FAQs

Colour & Texture Variations

Colour and texture variations within our range are normal. This is proof that genuine cowhide leather has been used. We try our best to keep products the same tone and texture, but cannot guarantee this.

Why veg-tan leather?

This leather is processed in a more environmentally friendly way than chemical tanning.

Veg-tan is one of the oldest methods of tanning known to man, it has literally been around for centuries. What makes vegetable tanning so unique is it can be used to make thicker leather and results in more body and character. Veg-tan leather also tends to age better and develops a rich patina over time. And it has that awesome classic leather smell.

Why copper rivets?

Copper rivets have been used since the mid-19th century, and are known to be the strongest way to attach leather to steel, as in the case of saddle making (attaching riggings) and does not rust or rot.

We use these on our Mega belts due to feedback from various industries, where stitching rots and tin rivets rust.

Why don’t we edge dye?

To try to be more environmentally friendly and as full grain leather wears its beauty is enhanced.

Why full grain leather?

Full grain leather has been used for centuries and is a durable hardwearing product. It is also a by-product and this makes use of an already available resource. This leather is also closer to its natural state and has no joins which contributes to its strength. Bonded and synthetic leathers tend to not last as long.

Why do some leathers have marks?

Cattle are free ranging animals that through the natural course of their life will pick up blemishes on their hide. This in no way damages the integrity of the leather but adds to the natural beauty and patina, making it an authentic material.
